Tragic collision shakes seaside town
Connor Laye, just 18, has died after a smashing crash involving his motorcycle and a car on Friday, October 14. The horror collision happened at 6.50pm at the junction of Chichester Road and Hawthorn Road in Bognor Regis.
Connor was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but sadly did not survive.
Family tribute to ‘big heart and charm’
The heartbroken family described Connor as a lad full of life, always chasing new adventures.
“Connor was full of life and always lived it with no regrets – every day was a new day and a new adventure for him.
“He brought us many ups and downs, but his big heart, charm and caring nature always shone through.
“We will always remember and love him dearly, and are utterly heartbroken that this has happened.
“We want to thank everyone supporting us. It shows how much Connor was truly loved.”
Driver arrested after suspected drink or drug driving
The car’s driver, a 44-year-old man from Chichester, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
He has been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
Police appeal for witnesses
Sussex Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicles beforehand to get in touch. Dashcam and CCTV footage could prove crucial.
