Granny Scammed Out of Thousands by Fake Repair Men in Nottingham!
83-Year-Old Targeted by Conmen
An elderly lady, aged 83, was duped by two men pretending to carry out urgent home repairs in Nottingham’s Beechdale area. They pressured her into signing cheques worth thousands, not once but twice – on 8 August and again on 19 October.
Man Charged Over Shocking Scam
Charlie Lee, 53, from Mile Tree Lane, Coventry, Warwickshire, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court this weekend. He faces a string of serious charges including robbery, burglary (and attempted burglary), fraud by false representation, and handling criminal property.
Lee was remanded in custody and is set to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 19 December 2022.
Police Hunt Second Suspect
“We are determined to get justice for this lady, so I am pleased we have been able to charge a suspect and put him before the courts,” said Detective Inspector Chris Berryman of Nottinghamshire Police.
“Our investigation continues, and I urge anyone with information to come forward immediately. We are especially keen to trace the other man involved in this vile scam.”
