Drug Courier Nabbed with £7 Million Worth of Cocaine and MDMA

A Salford man has been locked up for seven years after police caught him with a kilo of cocaine – exposing a massive drugs operation worth millions.

High-Speed Stop Uncovers Massive Haul

Alan Nisbet, 36, of Towyn Avenue, Salford, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday, 28 June 2023. Officers pulled him over on 18 December 2022 during a patrol on Operation Naseby, a crackdown on organised crime in the city.

His erratic driving sparked suspicion. A search of Nisbet’s car uncovered about a kilogram of cocaine. But the bust was just the start.

Phone Data Reveals Wholesale Drug Supply Network

Police seized Nisbet’s mobile phone, which revealed detailed info about drug trafficking. Investigators concluded he was a courier for a large-scale operation supplying both Class A and Class B drugs across the region.

In the month leading up to his arrest, Nisbet helped transport a staggering £7 million worth of narcotics. This haul included 40kg of cocaine, 70kg of MDMA, plus ketamine and amphetamine.

Convicted on Multiple Drug Charges

Nisbet pleaded guilty to:

  • Possession with intent to supply cocaine
  • Possession of cannabis
  • Conspiracy to supply cocaine, amphetamine, and MDMA
  • Two counts of money laundering

Police Warn Drug Dealers: We’re Coming for You

Detective Sergeant Daniel Worthington of GMP’s City of Salford district said: “This is a fantastic result for Operation Naseby officers. By taking a key player out of the supply chain, we’re making our streets safer and sending a clear message that drug crime won’t be tolerated.”

“If you know anything about drug dealing in your area, call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.”
