New Police Car to Smash Antisocial Behaviour in Newark and Sherwood
A new double-crewed police car is hitting the streets to battle antisocial behaviour (ASB) faster and more effectively than ever before.
Operation Renegade’s Rapid Response Vehicle
Dedicated officers behind the wheel of the new Operation Renegade car will respond quicker to ASB calls, making it a common sight across Newark and Sherwood. The vehicle allows the neighbourhood policing team to patrol visibly, deter nuisance behaviour, and support more victims every day.
The car will be out in force throughout the summer holidays, tackling vandalism, off-road biking, and other unruly antics head-on.
Police Cracking Down With Visible Patrols and Plain-Clothes Ops
Sergeant Rob Harrison of Nottinghamshire Police said: “We can’t get to every ASB call instantly, but this car helps us zero in on the troublemakers and assist victims faster. When there’s a breaking incident, we’ll arrive under blue lights with officers ready to take action.
These officers will focus solely on the Op Renegade car—no distractions—ensuring visible patrols and swift responses during peak times, weekends, and school holidays.”
Alongside the car, the force is ramping up plain-clothes operations in Newark town centre to catch offenders red-handed. A new collaboration with Newark and Sherwood District Council aims to stop repeat ASB offenders in their tracks.
Community Plea: Report Antisocial Behaviour Now
Though ASB reports have dipped slightly in the last year, Sgt Harrison urges locals to keep reporting issues. “ASB can wreck communities. Throwing stones, vandalism, and street abuse cause real harm—sometimes kids don’t realise the damage they do,” he explained.
“That’s why we’re focused on early intervention with school visits and community outreach. But we need your help. Please report any ASB so we can act.”
