Reading Man Jailed for Cocaine Possession and Money Laundering
Ervis Hasanaj, 26, from Rowley Road, Reading, has been locked up for 30 months after admitting to possession of Class A drugs and criminal property.
BMW Stop Leads to Cocaine Find
On September 5, 2019, police on patrol in Marlborough High Street stopped a BMW 3 Series. Hasanaj was the passenger and gave false details at the scene. A search uncovered cocaine on him. During a further search at custody, officers found three more bags of Class A drugs hidden in his underwear.
Drugs and Cash Discovered in Another Car
Hasanaj was also found with a Ford Fusion car key. A search of the vehicle revealed dozens of snap bags of Class A drugs stuffed inside a sock, along with a large amount of cash.
Guilty Pleas and Sentencing
Hasanaj pled guilty to possession of Class A drugs and money laundering. On July 7, he was sentenced to 30 months in prison. The court credited him with 193 days already served.
Previously, Hasanaj also admitted possession of fraudulently obtained identity documents. For this, he was jailed for four months and ordered to pay a £122 victim surcharge.
