Early Morning Drug Raid Rocks The Meadows
Police stormed a house in Eugene Gardens just after 7.30am on Wednesday, 12 July. Officers smashed through the front door and arrested a 39-year-old woman alongside two teenagers, aged 17 and 19, on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Major Haul Seized in Drug Bust
During an extensive search, officers uncovered two large wraps of white powder believed to be cocaine and amphetamine. They also seized cannabis, deal bags, a lock knife, a combat knife, and multiple mobile phones.
This raid is part of a wider police crackdown to prevent drug dealers from setting up in The Meadows.
The Murder That Sparked The Crackdown
Police vow to keep The Meadows free of drugs after nine gang members were jailed in a landmark case linked to the 2021 murder of Michael Anton O’Connor. Anton, who was well-known locally, was fatally attacked outside a home on Wilford Crescent West after being mistaken for a rival drugs kingpin.
The 31-year-old from Alexandra Park died at Queen’s Medical Centre following the attack. His death was the deadly climax of a bitter turf war between rival crime groups fighting for control of the local drug trade.
In total, nine gang members received prison sentences adding up to over 260 years.
Police Pledge Ongoing Vigilance

He added: “We’re working closely with residents and community partners to keep the area safe from the violence drug crime breeds. We’re not just raiding homes—we’re seizing everything linked to drug sales, including cash and valuables.
If anyone suspects drug dealing in The Meadows, call 101. Your information will be treated in strict confidence, and we will act on any intelligence we get.”
