Drug-impaired driver faces consequences for dangerous driving – UKNIP

A driver from Sidcup has been ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work after engaging in reckless driving behaviour that included pulling into oncoming traffic and driving through a red light. Kevin Hiscock, aged 40, was found to be under the influence of drugs and had already been disqualified from driving when he committed the dangerous manoeuvre.

The incident took place on November 19, 2022, on Beckenham Hill Road in uk/where/bellingham/">Bellingham. Hiscock, driving a SEAT Tarraco, pulled into oncoming traffic, overtook three stationary vehicles, and proceeded to run a red light, putting himself and others at risk.

During the police intervention following the incident, cocaine was discovered in Hiscock’s vehicle. Additionally, he was found to be unfit to drive due to drug impairment and was not insured to drive the vehicle. Hiscock had also been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving license.

Appearing at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on July 12, Hiscock pleaded guilty to multiple offences, including driving while disqualified, possession of cocaine, driving while unfit to drive through drugs, driving without insurance, and driving without due care and attention.

As a result, Hiscock was sentenced to a community order that includes 150 hours of unpaid work. Furthermore, he received a one-and-a-half-year driving disqualification.

Drug-impaired driving poses a significant risk to road users and is a serious offence. Authorities remain committed to enforcing strict penalties and ensuring the safety of the community. This case serves as a reminder of the consequences that individuals may face for engaging in dangerous driving behaviours while under the influence of drugs.

Drivers are reminded to always prioritize safety on the roads, obey traffic laws, and avoid driving while impaired. By doing so, we can collectively work towards creating a safer and more responsible driving environment for all.

Kevin Hiscock, 40, was unfit to drive due to drugs and was already disqualified from driving at the time that he carried out the dangerous manoeuvre.
