Catherine Tyldesley Sparks Cake Storm with Yorkshire Bakery
Ex-Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley is at the centre of a bizarre showdown with Three Little Birds Bakery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, over a simple cake request gone sour.
Bakery Snubs ‘Free Cake for Exposure’ Deal
The drama began when an events agency approached the bakery, asking for a cake plus 100 cupcakes for a “well-known” celebrity’s birthday – later revealed to be Tyldesley. The trade-off? Social media shoutouts and a mention in OK! magazine. But bakery owner Rebecca Severs wasn’t having it. She slammed the offer, telling the agency that “Instagram exposure” wouldn’t pay the bills or feed her staff’s families.
“We’re disappointed a celebrity can’t support small businesses properly… What happened to women supporting women?” Rebecca shared on social media.
Tyldesley Denies Involvement, Calls It ‘Cake Gate’
Tyldesley soon broke her silence on Instagram, calling the whole kerfuffle “utterly bizarre.” She said she had no clue about the emails flying around and joked about the saga as “cake gate.” The actress also made it clear she has no ties to OK! magazine and praised NVRLND, the events agency involved, calling them an “amazing” company that had supported her before.
Legal Threats Fly as Drama Unfolds
The bakery’s original complaint picked up over 2,000 likes online but prompted threats of legal action from NVRLND, accusing the bakery of defamation. The row has put the spotlight on both the bakery and Tyldesley – who’s best known for playing Eva Price on Coronation Street (2011-2018) and recently appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
