Dover Woman Found Dead Off Folkestone Coast After Dramatic Rescue
A frantic rescue mission swung into action after the Border Force RIB Athena spotted an unconscious woman floating face down in the water just after midday on Thursday. The Coastguard rescue helicopter Rescue 163, along with the RNLI Littlestone lifeboat and the Border Force crew, rushed to the scene.
Rescue Efforts Fail to Save Woman
Border Force staff made several attempts to recover the woman, but sadly she was unresponsive. Paramedics aboard Rescue 163 airlifted her to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
Initial reports suggested the casualty might have been a migrant, but this was later ruled out. All search resources have now been called off.
Police Confirm Identity and Circumstances
A Kent Police spokesman said:
Kent Police was called at 12.07pm on Thursday 24 March after a body was seen in the water off Folkestone. Officers attended alongside RNLI, Coastguard, and Border Force. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Formal identification hasn’t been completed yet, but the family of a 63-year-old woman reported missing on Wednesday 23 March have been informed.
The death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
The tragic discovery brings an end to the search for the missing woman from Dover, leaving authorities and loved ones to seek answers.
