Lorry Overturns After Crash on Strood Street – Dramatic Rescue Scene
A shocking crash on Station Road, Strood, saw a lorry overturn after colliding with another vehicle at around 1.30pm. Onlookers leapt into action, helping clear rubble and assist those involved in the smash.
Heroic Bystanders Rush to Help Amid Chaos
Eyewitnesses reported people using their bare hands to clear debris from the overturned lorry’s back. Emergency crews, including three fire engines, police, paramedics, and an air ambulance, swarmed the scene. The heavy goods vehicle lay on its side, spilling its contents onto the pavement.
One person suffered serious injuries while two others were taken to hospital as a precaution. The crash caused major disruption with Station Road closed both ways between Frindsbury Road and Banks Road.
Lorry Had No Valid MOT – Witnesses Claim Young Boy Was Driving
Police checks revealed the Renault Premium lorry’s MOT was expired by five months, with previous safety failures on brakes and steering. A man at the scene said: “A young boy was driving the unlicensed HGV when it overturned. Emergency services arrived within minutes along with police and ambulances.”
Road Closures in Effect – Drivers Advised to Avoid Area
Police have shut both directions of Frindsbury Road and Station Road. Motorists are warned to steer clear while recovery and investigations continue.
