After A Car Was Stolen, Two Suspects Were Apprehended
Officers responded to a house on Fairholme Drive in Mansfield at around
9.45 a.m. on 28 January after receiving reports of a car theft.
The car was discovered that evening in Keyworth Close after police searched
the Mansfield area.
Officers stopped two people they’d seen walking away from the scene as they
arrived after discovering there was no one inside the vehicle.
Both suspects, a 33-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, were arrested on
suspicion of motor vehicle theft.
Following the stop, the man was discovered to be wanted in connection with
a day earlier break-in at a property on Rosemary Street in Mansfield (27
January).
He was then arrested again on suspicion of burglary and for violating his
bail conditions.
“Thanks to the alertness of our officers, we were able to quickly return a
stolen car to its owner and arrest two suspects,” said Nottinghamshire
Police Constable Kate Bottomley.
“We understand the deep impact the theft of a vehicle can have, which is
precisely why we’re so committed to making reports of this nature as rare
as possible.
“Tracking down and retrieving this car also led to us locating a suspect
linked to a burglary from the day before.
“Nobody has the right to break into another person’s home, so we will
always do everything in our power to ensure anyone who does get involved in
this illicit practise is brought to justice.
“Inquiries into both incidents are still ongoing, so we’d ask anyone with
information to call 101, quoting incident 504 of 28 January 2023, or
Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
