Lorry Wrecks Morning Commute After Getting Stuck Under Barnham Railway Bridge

Just after 4am today, an HGV bulldozed its way into trouble, getting stuck under the railway bridge in Barnham on the B2233. Emergency crews raced to the scene, bringing morning traffic to a grinding halt.
Trains Ground to a Halt
Network Rail quickly stepped in to assess the damage. Train services were suspended while safety inspections took place. West Sussex Fire tweeted:
“Officers from Bognor Fire have this morning assisted in removing an HGV which became stuck under Barnham Railway Bridge. Network rail staff are currently inspecting the bridge for safety. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.”
Clearance and Reopening
By 7:30am, good news arrived. The road under Barnham Railway Bridge reopened after Network Rail gave the all-clear following thorough safety checks. Commuters can now breathe easy and get moving again.
