A smoke alarm alerted residents to a fire at their Canterbury home after a tumble dryer caught fire overnight.
Two fire engines were dispatched to the house on Copinger Close, where crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames before removing the appliance outside. After that, firefighters used high-pressure fans to clear the smoke from the house.
After inhaling smoke, both residents were examined as a precaution.
Following the incident, crews are reminding people not to use appliances like tumble dryers overnight or when leaving the house.
Also, remember to keep a working smoke alarm on each floor of your home and to test it on a weekly basis.
