Early Morning Break-In Ends in Quick Arrest

Emil Holewik, 53, from Southampton, was slapped with an 18-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to burglary and carrying a bladed weapon. The drama unfolded around 6.30 a.m. on 19 October 2022, when residents on Newlands Avenue were woken by a noise downstairs.

Residents Snap Intruder, Spot Missing Valuables

The home owners found a man lurking inside their house. Quick-thinking, they took a photo of him and promptly escorted the stranger out. Only then did they realise their home had been ransacked – alcohol, a laptop, car keys, toys, and cash had vanished.

Police Nab Holewik with Retractable Blade

Police matched the photo to Holewik and arrested him on 31 October 2022. A search uncovered a lockable retractable blade in his possession. The court ordered the blade destroyed along with Holewik serving his jail term.
