Trespasser Caught in Stable with Sinister Intent
Man Busted at Stables in Dead of Night
Police were called just after midnight on May 16 last year. The stable owner had caught a man lurking on his property. Alerted by a security sensor, he found Shane Taylor-Waters crouched behind his horse.
Unstable Offender Confesses Intent
When arrested for burglary, Taylor-Waters, 42, claimed, “I’m in an unstable situation. I’ve tried getting medication for it. I’m on licence. I have an unusual habit.” Later, on suspicion of animal cruelty, he admitted, “I thought about doing it. Then thought better.”
Taylor-Waters, who has a prior sexual offences conviction involving animals, spoiled any doubts: “I went there with the intention of doing it. I went in the stable and sat there for five minutes and didn’t do anything. Then the man came out and caught me.”
Judge Sends Trespasser Down for a Year
Living with no fixed address, Taylor-Waters pleaded guilty to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence. He was jailed for 12 months at Burnley Crown Court earlier this week.
Detective Sounds Warning
“This was an extremely sinister offence,” said DC Leigh Palfreeman of Burnley CID. “Thankfully Taylor-Waters was interrupted before he could take his worrying behaviour any further.”
