Motorcyclist Faces Multiple Charges After Fatal Plumstead Crash
Mustafa Ahmed tragically died after a collision on Plumstead Road near Lenton Street, SE18, on Sunday, 19 February. The crash involved a motorcycle and three pedestrians at a pedestrian crossing.
Nicholas Hopkins Charged with Death and Dangerous Driving
Nicholas Hopkins, 20, from Burrage Grove, Plumstead, was charged on Wednesday, 15 March with a string of serious offences:
- Causing death by dangerous driving
- Causing death while driving uninsured
- Causing death while driving unlicensed
- Two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving
- Possession of cannabis
- Racially aggravated public order offence
- Failing to provide a blood sample
Hopkins appeared at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 16 March and is due to appear again at the Central Criminal Court on Wednesday, 12 April.
Emergency Services Respond to Tragic Collision
The crash happened around 7.30pm on 19 February, with police, London Ambulance Service, and Air Ambulance rushing to the chaotic scene. Despite efforts, Mustafa Ahmed was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Two Others Seriously Hurt in Horror Crash
Also involved were a man in his 40s and a 10-year-old boy, all crossing the road together. Both suffered serious injuries.
The man remains in a serious condition in hospital. The boy has been discharged but continues treatment for life-changing injuries.
