Ringing the Changes Scam Goes Wrong
On March 10, around 3pm, a man tried a classic ‘ringing in the changes’ scam in a Silver Street shop. The trick involves swapping a large sum of money for smaller notes, confusing cashiers into handing over extra cash.
But the shop staff saw through the con.
Scammer Snatches £20 After Failing
When the scam failed, the suspect grabbed the staff member’s wrist and tried to steal cash directly from the till. He managed to escape with £20.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers are now asking the public to help identify the man pictured.
