10-Year-Old Falls from Brighton Cliffs – Expected to Fully Recover
A 10-year-old boy who plummeted from the cliffs at Ovingdean near Brighton last September is now on the road to full recovery, Sussex Police have confirmed.
Heroic Bystanders Save Young Boy
The terrifying incident happened around 5pm on Saturday, 24th September 2022. Quick-thinking members of the public rushed to the boy’s aid, performing life-saving first aid before paramedics arrived. Emergency services including SECAmb, KSS Air Ambulance, Sussex Police, and HM Coastguard swooped on the scene.
The boy was stabilised on the undercliff walk between Ovingdean and Rottingdean. He was then moved by land ambulance, assisted by Coastguard teams, to the KSS Air Ambulance, which airlifted him to a specialist unit at St George’s Hospital in London.
Investigation Clears Suspect
A 52-year-old man from Oxfordshire was initially arrested on suspicion of allowing a child to suffer serious harm. However, after a thorough probe, Sussex Police released him with no further action. The fall was ruled a tragic accident caused by misadventure.
“We thank the members of the public who helped administer first aid and support our investigation,” a police spokesperson said.
