Kent Police Crack Down on Illegal Waste Dumpers

Kent Police’s Rural Task Force teamed up with the Environment Agency on the morning of Saturday 25 March 2023 to tackle illegal waste dumping in Eastchurch.

Three Lorries Stopped, Two Seized

Officers pulled over three Scania tipper lorries for checks on roadworthiness and waste licences. One driver was free to go, but two had their vehicles seized.

  • One lorry stopped in Lower Road, Minster, was caught with an insecure load, no tax, and no valid MOT. The driver received a Traffic Offence Report (TOR).
  • The second lorry, halted in Chestnut Street, Sittingbourne, was also untaxed and was seized immediately.

Police Urge Public to Report Suspicious Waste Activity

“We work closely with other agencies and carried out this operation following concerns about vehicles transporting and dumping waste illegally,” said Rural Task Force Sergeant Darren Walshaw.

“We always listen to concerns from residents and urge anyone with similar issues to report them to the authorities so action can be taken.”
