Teen Burglar Busted After Stealing Cars and Cash Across Nottinghamshire
Allan Sulley, just 18, kicked off his crime spree in Clifton’s Bournmoor Avenue in the early hours of 6 January 2023. The homeowner woke to a ransacked living room and missing cash and valuables.
Key Clue Leads to More Thefts
Among the stolen goods was a house key tagged with an address on Firs Road, Edwalton. Sulley didn’t waste time – two days later, on 8 January, he used the key to sneak in while the owner slept. Inside, he found keys to three cars, which he promptly nicked and drove off without being caught.
Four Burglaries, Multiple Stolen Vehicles
Sulley’s spree didn’t stop there. On 13 January, he broke into two more homes in Beeston and Clifton. From a Humber Road South property, he stole van keys and two wallets, driving the van away and using one wallet’s card for several transactions. Around the same time, he swiped car keys from a Dungannon Road house. That car was later discovered abandoned in Mansfield, riddled with thousands of pounds in damage.
Arrest, Guilty Plea, and Tough Sentence
After a thorough police probe, Sulley was arrested on 17 January. He faced four burglary and three theft charges. Pleading guilty, the Mansfield teen appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on 3 April and was sentenced to three years and nine months in a young offenders’ institution.
Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Sulley is a prolific burglar, who showed a complete disregard for the law and the feelings of others by doing what he did. The judge rightly pointed out in court the consequences of his actions would’ve been felt enormously by his victims.
“While the financial costs can be felt keenly, it is often the emotional impact of burglaries that causes the most lingering damage. That’s why we treat crimes of this nature so seriously and why the sentence handed out to Sulley is so just.”
