Romford Garage Blaze Sparks Urgent Appliance Warning
A fierce fire ripped through a garage and a vehicle on Sheila Road, Romford, yesterday, prompting a sharp warning from firefighters.
Garage and Car Destroyed in Tumble Dryer Fire
The blaze gutted a garage at the rear of a house, destroyed a vehicle parked inside, and damaged part of a neighbouring garage. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
The fire, believed to have started due to a faulty tumble dryer, triggered more than 20 calls to the Fire Brigade’s 999 Control Officers.
Firefighters Urge Residents to Register Their Appliances
“If your white goods start making a strange noise, don’t ignore it,” a spokesperson from the Brigade warned. “If you suspect a problem, unplug it immediately and contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.
“Most fires caused by white goods aren’t your fault – but to stay safe, always register your appliances. That way, you’ll be alerted if any issues arise with the products you’ve bought.”
Rapid Response from Fire Brigade
Fire crews were called at 4:30 p.m. The fire was extinguished by 5:20 p.m. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Hainault, Dagenham, and Barking stations battled the blaze.
Don’t wait until disaster strikes – register your white goods and keep your home safe.
