Baby Alfie Phillips Dies from Horrific Injuries
An 18-month-old boy, Alfie Phillips, tragically died from multiple severe injuries, including broken ribs, feet, and toes.
Former Couple Face Murder Charges
Disturbing details revealed in court today show Alfie’s death was caused by “the overwhelming cumulative nature of the injuries and asphyxiation,” said Prosecutor Jennifer Knight KC.
Jack Benham, 34, and Sian Hedges, 26, Alfie’s mother and Benham’s former partner, are set to stand trial this October for the 2020 murder of the toddler in Hernhill, near Faversham.
Alfie’s Final Hours
The court heard Alfie died on November 28 after spending the night in a caravan. He was in the sole custody of Benham and Hedges at the time.
