Masked gang terrorises family home, gunman opens fire in chilling Stourbridge attack
Shotgun blast and stabbing in Caslon Crescent siege
Ravi Talware led a terrifying raid on John Jones’ family home. Masked and armed, the gang burst in before Talware fired a shotgun.
John Jones’ brother tried to flee but was stabbed multiple times during the violent attack at the Stourbridge property.
Talware issued a deadly warning: “If anyone comes down the stairs, they are getting shot. If anyone rings the police, they are dead.”
Gang makes fiery getaway after brutal assault
After the rampage, the gang sped off in a getaway car. Police later found the vehicle burned out less than two miles away in Gibbet Lane.
The horrendous incident took place around 7.30pm on 25 February last year. Investigations revealed Mr Jones owed Talware roughly £180.
The following morning, a member of the public discovered a bag containing the weapons dumped in a bin in Wolverhampton.
Murder conviction sparks justice for victim’s family
Today, Talware was found guilty of murder, possession of a shotgun, carrying bladed weapons, and perverting the course of justice.
Co-conspirators Kevin Waldron and Scott Garrington were convicted on the same charges. Three youths—two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old—were convicted of manslaughter and related offences, including possession of an imitation firearm.
Detective Inspector Laura Harrison said: “This was an appallingly violent attack which left one man dead and another seriously injured, all over a relatively trivial sum of money.”
“A lot of planning went into this attack and it was thanks to great detective work by officers who recovered CCTV and pieced together the killers’ movements that we’ve been able to get justice for Mr Jones’ family today.”
Sentencing is scheduled for June.
