Coronation Spectacle: Veterans and NHS Heroes Get Front Row at Buckingham Palace
Tens of thousands will flock to London this May 6 as King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla’s Coronation takes centre stage. But the real VIPs? Almost 4,000 veterans, NHS staff, and social care workers invited to prime viewing spots directly in front of Buckingham Palace.
Big Screens Across London Parks for Public Viewing
Not got a ticket? No problem. Huge screens will light up Hyde Park, Green Park, and St James’s Park, allowing thousands more to catch every moment live. St James’s Park will even broadcast Sunday’s Coronation Concert from Windsor Castle.
- 3,800 seats in a grandstand by Buckingham Palace host veterans, NHS workers, and charity reps connected to the Royal Family.
- 354 uniformed cadet forces to watch the Procession from Admiralty Arch.
- Non-ticketed areas along the Procession route from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey offer first-come, first-served viewing, including dedicated accessible spaces on The Mall.
The Coronation Day Procession and Spectacle
King Charles and The Queen Consort Will journey in splendour on the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, pulled by six iconic Windsor Grey horses, flanked by The Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. Their return to Buckingham Palace will be aboard the famed Gold State Coach.
The procession cuts a grand path through key London landmarks — The Mall, Admiralty Arch, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall, Parliament Square — before arriving at Westminster Abbey.
Accessible Viewing and Facilities for All
Accessible spaces have been arranged along the route and at all big screen venues, complete with first aid, mental health support, toilets, hearing loops, and British Sign Language interpreters. Wheelchair users and those with mobility needs will find ground-level comfortable spots equipped with necessary facilities.
Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer said: “As a mark of the nation’s profound gratitude, it is right that in celebrating the Coronation we include and champion those who have dedicated their lives to public service.”

The Armed Forces hold great importance to the nation as they work to protect us, our freedoms and our society’s way of life. We know that it will be a great privilege for members of the Armed Forces community to see their new Commander in Chief on this significant day.”

London expects huge crowds and urges the public to check travel updates before joining the celebrations. Across the UK, more than 57 locations will screen the Coronation live, allowing over 100,000 people to mark the occasion locally.
