Sunak Unveils Business Connect to Supercharge UK Economy
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has launched Business Connect, a bold new conference aimed at showcasing the energy and innovation of UK businesses. The event promises to unlock fresh opportunities and turbocharge economic growth.
Top CEOs and Ministers Join Forces
- Business Connect brings together over 200 of Britain’s leading CEOs and investors.
- Key sectors like tech, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing take centre stage.
- Government ministers will hold direct talks with industry giants to hammer out growth strategies.
This powerhouse gathering offers a new platform for dialogue between Prime Minister Sunak’s pro-growth government and the business world — all designed to deliver on the UK’s top economic priorities.
Jobs Surge and Confidence Soars
Since last October, the UK economy has created an average of 1,800 new jobs every month, thanks to rising business confidence and inward investment. So far, this has resulted in 11,000 new jobs — a clear vote of trust in the UK’s economic future.
Rishi Sunak said: “I am working every day on our five priorities – to halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists and stop the boats. Business Connect provides the next fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how we are growing the economy. We are bringing together some of the UK’s biggest companies and investors for meaningful dialogue – and I’m a Prime Minister passionate about working with business to unlock opportunity and progress.”
Sunak also revealed he’s spoken to over 1,000 business leaders since taking office, pointing to the UK’s impressive record in creating 162 tech unicorns and world-class universities supporting innovation.
Innovation, Investment, and Open Doors
In an exciting addition, Sunak will introduce a new ‘innovation’ award at tonight’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards. The prize will highlight cutting-edge ideas that could drive the UK economy forward.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said: “We want the UK to be the best place in the world to start, grow and invest in a business. At the Spring Budget, we cut business taxes, boosted access to talent, and streamlined regulation. This is just the beginning.”
Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch added: “Our door is always open to businesses. We’re cutting red tape, securing high-quality trade deals, and making sure the UK stays a top global business hub.”
Industry Voices Back Government Drive
Debra Crew, CEO-designate of Diageo, praised the initiative: “Such high-level engagement from the Prime Minister is welcome. Business Connect is a brilliant chance to promote Scottish exports and create jobs.”
Barclays CEO C.S. Venkatakrishnan said: “The UK remains a global financial centre. We support the Government’s vision to boost prosperity and growth.”
Currys’ Alex Baldock highlighted the importance of business input: “Events like this help us shape the skills, infrastructure, and regulation needed to power UK growth.”
With Business Connect now live, the UK is setting its sights on a future of innovation, investment, and unstoppable economic momentum.
