Missile Hits Russia’s Black Sea Navy HQ in Crimea

A missile has struck the headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea navy in Crimea, a local Moscow-appointed official confirmed. This comes amid Ukraine’s escalating strikes on military and infrastructure targets across the occupied peninsula.

Videos flooding social media show thick smoke rising from the hit building, although their authenticity is still being verified.

Escalation in Crimea as Ukraine Hits Military Targets

The latest strike marks a sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict. Ukraine has recently targeted multiple sites along Crimea’s western coast, including a major attack on a military base in Sevastopol. That raid reportedly destroyed a Russian submarine and a warship.

Tragically, Russia’s Defence Ministry confirmed one serviceman was killed in the missile assault on the Black Sea navy HQ, located in Sevastopol’s port city.

Local Authorities Warn of More Attacks

Mikhail Razvozhayev, Crimea’s Moscow-backed governor, revealed that missile fragments landed near the Lunacharsky Theatre. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, with fire crews battling a growing blaze. Casualty numbers remain unclear.

“We urge residents to stay calm,” Razvozhayev said. He later warned that another attack could be imminent, advising people to avoid the city centre and to seek shelter if sirens sound.

Ukraine and Diplomacy Amid Ongoing Conflict

As these tense events unfold, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a surprise trip to Canada—his first since Russia invaded Ukraine. Meanwhile, diplomatic tensions rise as Zelensky criticised Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary for banning imports of Ukrainian grain, deepening regional disputes.
