Appeal For Information Following Serious Road Crash On A82 Near Old Kilpatrick

Police officers from the Road Policing Unit in Dumbarton have launched an appeal for information following a serious road crash that occurred on the A82 near Old Kilpatrick on Sunday, September 24, 2023. The incident unfolded at approximately 16.55 BST and involved a Volkswagen Polo.

The incident involved a 19-year-old woman who was driving the Volkswagen Polo in the westbound direction on the A82. Preliminary findings suggest that the vehicle lost control, ultimately veering off the road.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, and the young woman was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by ambulance. Hospital staff have described her condition as serious, emphasising the severity of the incident.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of the Road Policing Unit is leading the investigation into the cause of this road crash. He urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information regarding the circumstances leading to the crash to come forward.

Sergeant Malaney stated, “Our enquiries into the cause of this crash are continuing, and I would urge any witnesses to contact us. I am also keen to hear from drivers who were in the vicinity of this part of the road around the time of the crash, as they may have captured footage or information that will assist us in our investigation.”
