Turkey Strikes Back After Ankara Bombing
Turkey launched fierce air strikes in northern Iraq after a suicide bombing in Ankara left two police officers injured. The Kurdish militant group PKK claimed the attack, which came just hours before Parliament resumed after a long summer break.
Deadly Duo Behind Ankara Blast
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed two terrorists carried out the bombing. One died in the blast, while the other was shot dead by police shortly after. Euphrates News Agency confirmed Turkish air strikes hit 20 PKK targets, destroying caves, bunkers, and weapons caches.
Targeted Strikes Across Northern Iraq
A Turkish government spokesperson said on X (formerly Twitter): “Air operations were carried out against terrorist targets in the Metina, Hakurk, Kandil, and Gara regions.” They boasted many terrorists were neutralised using homegrown ammunition.
Turkey Vows Unrelenting War on Terror
The Turkish Armed Forces pledged to keep crushing terrorism to protect the homeland. The government stressed it took care to avoid civilian casualties. Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc confirmed a probe is underway, promising:
“Despite these attacks, our fight against terrorism will continue with more determination.”
The threat remains high as Turkey battles extremist groups who have struck deadly blows before. The message is clear: Turkey won’t back down.
