Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle Following Police Pursuit

Greater Manchester Police are seeking the public’s assistance in gathering information about a collision at a fun fair near Morris Street in Hindley. The incident occurred on Saturday, 7 October 2023, at approximately 20.25 BST

According to reports, a silver Ford Focus was flagged down by police on Wigan Road in Hindley. However, the vehicle failed to comply, initiating a brief pursuit. The car subsequently veered onto Cross Street and then onto Morris Street before entering the fun fair.

Tragically, the vehicle collided with a member of the public, resulting in serious injuries. Thankfully, medical professionals have determined that these injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

Regrettably, the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving the injured individual behind. Nevertheless, the authorities have made progress in their investigation. A 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving. Both individuals have been released on bail as further inquiries are conducted.

In their efforts to gather additional evidence, the police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses relevant information to come forward. This includes individuals with CCTV, mobile phone footage, or dashcam recordings.
