Stolen Car Smashes Into Building on A2, Man Arrested

Chaos hit the A2 this morning (October 28) as a car crashed straight into a building between Medway and Sittingbourne. The driver, who collided with the property on Newington’s High Street, was rushed to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being arrested.

Rush Hour Traffic Snarled for Hours

The smash at the junction with Church Lane partially blocked both sides of the busy A2. This sparked brutal jams for commuters heading between Rainham and Sittingbourne, with delays stretching in both directions.

Kent Police Reveal More Damage and Stolen Vehicle

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Our inquiries found that several vehicles nearby were damaged before the crash. The car involved was reported stolen just minutes before the collision.”

They added: “The injured man in hospital has been arrested. The investigation into the full circumstances is ongoing.”

Traffic Relief by Mid-Morning

Officers cleared the wreck and debris from the road, with traffic starting to ease around 10:30 a.m. Traffic is now back to normal as investigations continue.
