Charges Discontinued Amid Ongoing Probe

Two people linked to the tragic death of a newborn in Harold Hill have had charges dropped — for now. Ahmed Mahad, 35, homeless, and Dawn-Marie Huxtable, 36, from Mimosa Close, were accused of concealing the baby’s birth after the lifeless newborn girl was found at a home on August 22.

Police Gathering More Forensic Evidence

Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford explained: “The charges have been discontinued in this case to allow the police to gather more evidence.” He revealed that expert forensic analysis could take months and will shape any future charges in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service.

Investigation Still Active — Public Urged to Help

The Met has stressed the probe is ongoing. Det Supt Basford warned the public against jumping to conclusions based on this move. Police are keen for anyone with info to step forward, quoting incident number CAD 6024/23Aug. Tips can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
