The HMS Richmond, based in Plymouth, assumed the role of shadowing the Russian warship Admiral Grigorovich as it transited through the English Channel en route to the Mediterranean. This operation involved closely monitoring the Russian frigate’s movements from the North Sea to its passage through the Dover Strait.

A spokesperson for the Royal Navy stated, “The Royal Navy has shadowed a Russian warship through stormy seas close to the UK. Plymouth-based warship HMS Richmond kept constant watch on Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich, tracking her in the North Sea and maintaining permanent contact.

Commander Chris L’Amie, the commanding officer of HMS Richmond, highlighted the importance of such operations, saying, “The English Channel is one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.
