As winter sets in, bringing with it the chilly winds and dropping temperatures, London’s fire stations have joined hands with the Wrap Up London campaign, initiating a heartwarming initiative to collect winter coats for those in need. This year marks the fourth consecutive year of this compassionate drive, which has seen an overwhelming response from the community.
Station Officer Paul Anstey, the chief organiser and driving force behind this noble effort, has been instrumental in rallying support and contributions. Speaking on the initiative, he expressed, “Our goal is to bring warmth to the more vulnerable people in our communities. The Wrap Up London campaign has been an incredible platform for this cause, and we are thrilled to continue into our fourth year. We are immensely grateful to everyone who has donated in the past and to the firefighters who have volunteered their time for this cause.”
The campaign invites Londoners to donate any warm, winter coats they no longer need. These coats will be distributed among front-line charities, directly assisting individuals who face the harshness of winter without adequate clothing.
Residents can drop off their spare coats at any of the twelve participating fire stations listed below, until 27 November:
- Acton
- Clapham
- Euston
- Hornchurch
- Old Kent Road
- Poplar
- Shoreditch
- Sidcup
- Soho
- Surbiton
- Wembley
- Woodside
In case these locations are not accessible, the campaign has ensured that there are other drop-off points across London. Those interested in contributing can search for ‘Wrap Up London’ online to find the nearest location.
The initiative not only embodies the spirit of community and sharing but also highlights the vital role played by local fire stations in going beyond their call of duty to serve society. It is an opportunity for Londoners to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of those who struggle to stay warm
