Witnesses sought: Altercation at New Romney bus stop involving man and teenagers

On Monday 8 January 2024 at around 12.15pm, Kent Police was made aware of an incident in Yarrow Close, in which a man was being treated by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Witnesses reported that a disturbance involving a group of people had been followed by a collision involving a car and a man.

The man sustained multiple injuries, including a fracture to his leg, and was taken to hospital.

A man aged 18 and a boy aged 16 were arrested the same day on suspicion of affray. They were later released on bail pending further enquiries.

A third man was also arrested and on Tuesday 9 January, William Tollington, of Chichester Road in Ramsgate, was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

Following a hearing at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court, Mr Tollington, aged 43, was released on bail where he is next due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 12 February 2024.
