A major road in North London’s Clapton Common has been closed following a harrowing incident involving two young children and a London bus. The accident occurred on Saturday evening, shortly after 7 pm.

Emergency services, including the London Fire Brigade, the London Ambulance Service, and officers from the Metropolitan Police, were called to the scene at Clapton Common. The two children were reportedly struck by the bus and became trapped underneath it. A swift response was mounted to extricate the young victims.

The Met Police have said: “Police were called shortly before 7pm on Saturday, 20 January, to a bus in collision with two pedestrians in Clapton Common.

“Officers attended the scene. The two pedestrians, both children, have been taken to hospital for treatment.

The parents of both children are with them at the hospital.

“The bus stopped at the scene. There has been no arrest.”

UPDATE:

Officers at the scene have since confirmed that the injuries to those involved are no longer life-threatening.

The scene has since been closed down by Police and the road has reopened.
