Eastbourne RNLI Launches Dramatic Night Rescue Mission

On the evening of January 29th, Eastbourne RNLI volunteer crew were scrambled into action. At 9:20pm, the Solent Coastguard ordered two lifeboats to launch for a critical search and rescue operation in the English Channel.

Two Lifeboats Race Out to Sea

The brave team quickly dispatched the D Class Inshore lifeboat ‘David H’ from Fishermans Green and the Trent Class All-weather lifeboat ‘Henry Heys Ducksworth’ from Sovereign Harbour. These top-notch vessels hit the water fast, ready for action.

Multi-Agency Effort in the Dark

This high-stakes mission involved a full-scale team effort. Alongside Eastbourne’s lifeboats, Newhaven lifeboat, Coastguard Helicopter 163, local coastguard squads, and police units all joined the search.

Search Ends Without Success

After a wide and thorough search, the operation was called off with no sign of the target. Despite the blank result, the swift response and teamwork highlight the RNLI’s unwavering dedication to saving lives.
