RNLI Lifeboats Race to Foggy Mayday Call off Eastbourne

On Thursday, 21st March at 14:39, Eastbourne’s RNLI lifeboats sprang into action after a mayday distress signal came from the Cow Gap area.

With dense fog cloaking the coast, lifeboat crews teamed up with local coastguards and a helicopter from Lydd to launch a full-scale search. The rescue mission involved three Coastguard rescue teams and two lifeboat crews combing the area despite the poor visibility.

Search Ends Without Findings

After a thorough search led by Solent Coastguard, no trace of the emergency was found. All rescue teams were called off after hours of meticulous checking.
