Heartbreak has swept through the community as the Metropolitan Police confirmed the devastating loss of five-year-old Daniel Alaby. The young boy, who had gone missing from his home in Thamesmead, south-east London, was found in the River Thames after an extensive search effort.

A police appeal was launched on Friday to locate Daniel, prompting a widespread effort to locate the missing child. However, hopes were dashed when officers searching for Daniel discovered a child in the river at approximately 6:23 pm.
