FCDO Slaps ‘Do Not Travel’ Tag on Eight More Danger Zones

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has slammed the brakes on holidays to eight new countries, warning Brits to steer clear. Their ever-updated travel advice lists these nations as “too dangerous” for UK travellers.

New Danger Destinations Added to Red and Black Lists

The latest additions—Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Sudan, Lebanon, Israel, Belarus, and the Palestinian territories—push the total number of no-go zones to 66. Experts at the Foreign Office slap these spots with “red list” or “black list” statuses, signalling serious safety risks.

No Ban, But Support Could Be Non-Existent

The FCDO isn’t banning travel outright, but warns holidaymakers they might be left stranded without government help if things go south. Each country carries its own specific warning, but the blunt message is clear: don’t expect consular backup in emergencies.

“Belarus is especially risky due to Russian military moves and the threat of conflict escalation,” the FCDO says. “If fighting breaks out, our ability to assist will be severely limited.”

24 Countries on Blacklist, 42 on Red List – Travel With Caution

  • 24 nations on the black list include war zones like Afghanistan, Syria, and Yemen where travel is strongly discouraged or banned unless absolutely necessary.
  • 42 countries on the red list restrict travel to essential trips only, often targeting specific regions within those countries.

The FCDO’s official website offers detailed travel advice about COVID rules, security threats, entry requirements, and insurance tips. They stress the need for solid travel insurance covering planned activities and any medical conditions.

With global unrest heating up, Brits are urged to keep their ear to the ground and think twice before jetting off abroad.
