Tragic Biggin Hill Crash Kills Beloved Teen Vincent Thompson

A heartbroken mum has paid an emotional tribute to her “amazing” and “funny” 17-year-old son, Vincent Thompson, after he was fatally injured in a motorbike crash in Biggin Hill.

Late Night Crash on Main Road

Vincent was found injured alongside another teenager by an off-duty police officer at 11:55 pm on June 9. Sadly, Vincent was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

Lisa McKay, his mum, described him as the “best son anyone could ask for” who touched many hearts with his kindness and humour.

“Vincent was amazing, kind, honest, thoughtful, and funny and the best big brother and son anyone could ask for. He loved fishing with his dad and spending time with his friends,” Lisa said. “He also helped all his neighbours by cutting their grass. He loved animals; he was like Dr. Dolittle.”

Friend Arrested, Released Pending Investigation

The other 17-year-old involved was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later released under investigation following questioning at a South London police station.

Bright Future Cut Short

Vincent’s family had recently moved to Biggin Hill from Penge. He attended Charles Darwin School before transferring to Bromley Trust Academy in Year 10.

Lisa revealed Vincent had passed all his GCSEs thanks to the extensive support from his school. He was currently training in plumbing and held a job at a local carpet shop, with two more work offers lined up.

Beyond academics, Vincent earned a Jack Petchey award and had qualifications in DJing, cooking, team leading, and functional skills.

Community in Mourning, Support on Offer

Following Vincent’s death, a family friend set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs.

“The support and love are genuinely getting us through. Seeing how loved my son was and how he touched everyone’s heart is giving me strength each day,” Lisa added.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

An 18-year-old man was arrested on June 10 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Witnesses are urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 8152/10JUN24.
