Specialist Trident detectives, part of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, swiftly launched an investigation. Their efforts led to the identification of a black BMW car associated with the suspects. The vehicle was stopped nearby, resulting in the arrest of two men who now face firearms-related charges.

Detective Inspector Iain Wallace, who heads the investigation, issued an appeal:

“I urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Shandy Street during the incident to come forward. Whether you witnessed the discharge or have any relevant information, no detail is too insignificant. Your assistance could be crucial in our ongoing efforts to compile evidence.”

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, responsible for policing in Tower Hamlets, emphasised the commitment to tackling illegal firearms:

“We collaborate closely with our Specialist Crime colleagues and local communities to locate and apprehend those involved in violent criminal activity related to firearms. This swift action serves as a stark warning to anyone engaging in such behaviour: you will be identified and taken off the streets.”
