Gunfire Rocks Tower Hamlets in the Early Hours
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are urgently hunting witnesses following a firearms incident in Tower Hamlets. At around 1:45am on Monday, June 17, shots were fired on Shandy Street (E1), damaging a residential property. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Black BMW Linked to Suspects Stopped and Two Men Arrested
Trident detectives, part of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, sprang into action and quickly identified a black BMW connected to the suspects. The vehicle was stopped nearby, leading to the arrest of two men. Both now face serious firearms charges.
Police Urge Locals to Come Forward with Information
“I urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Shandy Street during the incident to come forward,” said Detective Inspector Iain Wallace, who is leading the investigation. “Whether you saw the gunfire or have any other relevant information, no detail is too small. Your help is vital as we build our case.”
Top Cop Warns: ‘Illegal Guns Will Not Be Tolerated’
Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney, overseeing Tower Hamlets policing, pledged strong action against gun crime.
“We are working closely with Specialist Crime teams and local communities to track down those behind violent shootings. Let this be a warning – if you carry illegal firearms, we will find you and take you off our streets.”
