Stations in Sydenham and Beckenham have been plagued by a series of defibrillator thefts since January, with four devices stolen from New Beckenham and Lower Sydenham stations.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released a CCTV image of a man who may have information that could assist their investigation. The most recent incident occurred around 8 pm last Monday (June 17) at New Beckenham station. A 999 call was made by someone claiming the station defibrillator was needed for an emergency. When the code for the defibrillator cabinet was provided, the device was stolen.
This follows a similar incident at the same station on February 7 and two incidents at Lower Sydenham station on January 29 and last Thursday (June 20).
BTP is appealing to the public for assistance. If you recognize the man in the CCTV image, please text British Transport Police on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 230 of 18 June. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
