Kent Police was called following a report a man had made inappropriate comments to a schoolgirl in the Foord Road area before touching her over clothing.
The incident reportedly took place on the morning of Thursday 27 June 2024.
A man was arrested the following day and, after an investigation by the town’s Vulnerability Investigation Team, Callum Maycock was charged with sexual assault.
The 20-year-old, of Foord Road, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1 July and was remanded in custody to appear before Thanet Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 15 August.
