Wolverhampton Sex Offender Jailed Over 50,000 Child Abuse Images

A vile sex predator from Wolverhampton has been locked up after being caught with thousands of horrific indecent images of children. Richard Haswell, 62, faces six years behind bars plus three years on licence for his disgusting crimes.

Massive Haul of Child Abuse Content Uncovered

An intensive probe by the Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET) exposed Haswell’s sick stash. Officers found over 50,000 indecent images and extreme pornography, including abuse of babies as young as six months old.

But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Haswell was also convicted of making six counts of indecent images possession and two counts of arranging or facilitating child sex offences.

Orchestrated Live Abuse From the Philippines

Police revealed Haswell communicated with a fellow sex offender in the Philippines to organise live sexual abuse videos of children on demand. He even paid the offender and gave detailed instructions on the abuse to be carried out.

When arrested last July, Haswell admitted owning devices packed with illegal content but tried to claim he was pressured into sending money to the overseas abuser. He couldn’t explain why he didn’t block the contact.

Strong Case Leads to Heavy Sentence

The sheer scale of Haswell’s crimes and his own confessions made conviction inevitable. He was slapped with a six-year jail term, plus three years on licence. Additionally, he received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to restrict his activities.

Authorities pledged to continue hunting offenders like Haswell, urging the public to report any suspicions of child sexual exploitation immediately.
