Man Arrested Over String of Rapes in Manchester City Centre
A man in his 40s has been arrested following four separate rapes in Manchester city centre. The suspect allegedly preyed on intoxicated men and women before sexually assaulting them and stealing their personal belongings.
Targeting Vulnerable Victims in Nightlife Hotspot
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) revealed the attacks date back to February 2024. The man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday and remains in police custody. His identity has not yet been released.
The force confirmed the suspect specifically targeted individuals under the influence of alcohol, committing these horrific crimes before robbing his victims.

“These are truly horrific crimes; no one should feel unsafe when walking the streets of Greater Manchester,” said Detective Superintendent Richard Hunt, who leads the force’s rape and sexual offences unit.
“We remain committed to achieving justice for all victims and do not tolerate any form of sexual violence in our communities. We urge anyone affected to come forward and report it. Every report will be thoroughly investigated, and victims will be fully supported every step of the way.”
