Man on Trial After Brutal 90-Minute Crime Spree in Mitcham
Connor Keys, 24, from Dalton Avenue, Mitcham, faced court today charged with attempted murder and a slew of violent offences. His rampage lasted 90 minutes, ending in a stabbing that left a man fighting for his life in Saxonbury Close.
Multiple Attacks Shock Mitcham Community
The nightmare began around 11:19 PM on June 24, when Keys launched an unprovoked attack at Priory Retail Park. The victim was assaulted without warning. Just 30 minutes later, a 61-year-old man was left with a serious head injury after an assault on Belgrave Road, police confirmed.
The violence escalated further at 12:51 AM when police were called to Saxonbury Close following reports of a stabbing. The victim remains in critical condition in hospital.
Keys Faces Ten Charges Including Attempted Murder
- Attempted murder by stabbing a man in the neck and back
- Section 18 grievous bodily harm linked to the second assault

- Assault on police officers
- Racially aggravated criminal damage
During his court appearance via video link from HMP Wandsworth, Keys, wearing a grey t-shirt, only confirmed his identity. Judge Anuja Dhir KC set a provisional trial date for March 2025.
Remanded in Custody as Investigation Continues
