Third Child Confirmed Dead Following Southport Knife Attack

Merseyside Police have confirmed the death of a third child following the horrific knife attack in Southport that occurred yesterday morning.

In an official statement, Merseyside Police said, “Sadly we can confirm that a third child has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a knife attack in Southport yesterday morning. The nine-year-old girl died in hospital in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, 30 July.

The police also identified the two children who died yesterday as girls aged six and seven years. The brutal attack has left the community in shock and mourning.

Eight other children suffered stab wounds during the incident, with five of them currently in critical condition. Additionally, two adults who were injured while trying to protect the children remain in critical condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind this tragic incident, and a 17-year-old boy is being held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The attack took place during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class at The Hart Space on Hart Street.
