Two Off-Road Bikes Seized by Police in Gravesend Following Dangerous Driving Reports

Local police officers have seized two off-road bikes in Gravesend after receiving multiple reports of the vehicles being driven dangerously in the area.

The first incident occurred on August 4, when officers on foot patrol were alerted to an off-road bike near Ordnance Road at around 2:45 pm. The bike was reported to have been driven recklessly in a nearby park, putting members of the public at risk. Police quickly located the bike, seized the vehicle, and detained the rider.

In a separate incident, on July 30 at approximately 10:29 am, Kent Police received reports of another off-road bike being driven dangerously through the town centre. Witnesses alleged that the rider was navigating pedestrian routes, narrowly missing members of the public along New Road and Stone Street.

Local officers responded to the reports and, through diligent enquiries and the use of CCTV footage, managed to locate and seize the abandoned bike in Lawrence Square, Northfleet.

A 14-year-old boy from Northfleet and an 18-year-old man from Gravesend have both been reported for traffic offences in connection with the incidents. They are currently under investigation.

A spokesperson for Kent Police stated: “The reckless use of off-road bikes poses a significant risk to public safety. We are committed to taking swift action against those who choose to endanger others through irresponsible driving.

The incidents have raised concerns among local residents, who have expressed relief that the police have taken action to address the dangerous behaviour. The seized bikes will remain in police custody as the investigation continues.

Residents are encouraged to report any further instances of dangerous driving to the police to help ensure the safety of the community
