Boy Dies After Being Pulled from Canal in Wolverhampton

A young boy has tragically died after being pulled from a canal in Wolverhampton on Sunday evening.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident on Hendon Avenue in Ettingshall at 6:01 pm. An ambulance arrived swiftly at the scene within three minutes, followed by a second ambulance, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor, and a critical care paramedic.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service described the scene, stating: “On arrival, crews found a boy who had been pulled from the water by police colleagues in a critical condition. He was receiving basic life support from officers, and ambulance staff immediately took over to administer advanced life support. Sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, the child could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

This tragic incident comes as forecasters predict hot weather on Monday and Tuesday, potentially drawing more people to open water. The public is urged to take extra precautions and be mindful of the dangers associated with swimming in canals and other bodies of water.
